“Cedar Throne”

Using salvaged, already downed wood, I carve these massive chairs from the big flared base of the cedar tree.
This part of the tree has very tough wood, where it is anchored to the earth. Each one has it’s own unique shape, size and flavor.
After I finally carving them until they are comfortable, I sand and sand them – forever, it seems. Then I apply several coats of a penetrating, high quality marine finish that is rubbed in.
They can go indoors or outside as well. I make sure that they can drain rain water too.
